Charity project event for engineering company – One Tree Per Child
I had the pleasure of photographing a wonderful community initiative organised by SDS, an engineering consultancy with a strong focus on social value and sustainability. The event, held at Stoke Park Estate in Bristol, was part of Bristol City Council’s One Tree Per Child programme – an ambitious effort to increase the city’s tree canopy and support local biodiversity.
SDS staff rolled up their sleeves and spent the day planting hundreds of young trees, forming two new hedgerows that will benefit wildlife and enhance green space for future generations. It was a hands-on volunteering day that brought people together for a shared cause — protecting the environment while contributing positively to the local community.
Each sapling was carefully placed and protected with biodegradable sleeves, showing real care and long-term thinking. The project ties in beautifully with SDS’s Social Value Strategy, giving their team the opportunity to directly support local authority goals and make a visible difference to urban greening efforts.
From a photography point of view, it was a joy to capture the energy and teamwork throughout the day—from muddy boots and high-vis vests to quiet moments of reflection as trees were planted. The event had a real sense of purpose, and I was proud to document it.
If you’re planning a company charity event or volunteering day and would like to document the story behind it, I’d love to hear from you!
