My family photography is a mix of real moments and relaxed portraits

Hi, I'm Alison - I help families capture the love, laughter, and little moments with natural, timeless photos.

I’m a family photographer with over a decade of experience photographing babies, children, families, and celebrations. I specialise in natural, relaxed images at home or outdoors, capturing families with a mix of honest, candid moments and timeless portraits.

Raising children means life is messy, beautiful, and non-stop but somewhere in the middle of the chaos, I know you’d love to hold onto the connection, the laughter, and the way your family feels right now. I’m here to get your family in some beautiful photos.

Printed, framed, shared, or tucked away somewhere, these images will become part of your family’s story.

Time moves fast.
Invest in beautiful photos that last.

Your family photos aren’t just for today, they’re for your kids to look back on when they’re grown. They’re for remembering who you were, how you laughed, how you held each other close. Whether it’s your toddler’s cheeky grin or a quiet cuddle, these are the memories you’ll want to hold onto!

  • “Alison is amazing! The photoshoot was so much fun and Alison made it really enjoyable for the kids. She is super patient. The photos are incredible! Thank you for a wonderful experience.”

My approach is relaxed and child-led, meaning we’ll go with the flow, whether that’s exploring, playing, or simply cuddling!

Whether you’re looking to update your family photos or you simply want to capture this special time before it passes, I’m here to help. Life changes quickly, and these moments won’t be around forever. If this sounds like something you’d love to do, get in touch and get your photo session booked in.

I cover Bristol, Bath, Gloucestershire and Somerset. All travel within a 30-mile radius of Portishead (my home) is included. I can travel further so please don’t hesitate to get in touch if you’re not in the areas above.

    • Do you have a studio?

All my work is done on location. I specialise in capturing natural, authentic moments in outdoor settings like parks, woods and fields. If you’d rather have a more relaxed and personal setting, I can also come to your home for a comfortable, familiar environment.

Blog story - Why do a family photoshoot?

    Family photography

It’s easy to put it off. Life is busy, children are growing, someone’s always got a cold or needs a haircut, and maybe it never feels like quite the right time. But if you’ve ever thought about doing a family photoshoot, or even if you haven’t, here are a few reasons why it might be worth considering.

    1. You’re rarely all in the picture

Scroll through most people’s phone photos and you’ll find hundreds of images of the kids and usually one parent missing. Someone has to take the photo, after all. A dedicated session means the whole family is in the frame with no one stuck behind the camera.

    2. It marks a moment in time

Children grow quickly. Faces change. Routines shift. New chapters begin. A photoshoot freezes a little piece of everyday life before it moves on — the missing tooth, the way they lean into you, the way a toddler’s hand still fits perfectly in yours.

    3. It doesn’t have to be formal

Many people picture stiff poses and forced smiles when they think of a photoshoot, but that doesn’t have to be the case. These sessions can be relaxed and low-pressure. Time to just be yourselves while someone quietly documents the moments that unfold.

    4. It’s for now, and for later

You might enjoy the photos as soon as you get them, but their real value often grows over time. Years down the line, they become treasured memories, not just for you, but for your children too.

    5. Why get a professional?

There’s something different about having someone else behind the camera. Someone who knows how to gently guide you when needed, spot beautiful light, and capture the moments you might not even realise are happening. A professional brings a fresh eye, experience, and the ability to turn everyday moments into something timeless.

    6. You don’t need a “special” occasion

There’s no need to wait for a birthday, a milestone, or a big event. Ordinary days are worth remembering too — the messy hair, the muddy boots, the laughter. Those are often the moments that matter most.

That’s it. No need to rush into it, or to have it all planned out. But if it’s something that’s been at the back of your mind, it might be worth nudging it to the front!
