My family photography sessions are designed to capture life as it is right now - the closeness, the movement, the moments, the expressions you’ll want to remember later.
Family photography doesn’t need to involve stiff poses or asking children to behave in ways that aren’t natural to them.
These sessions are relaxed and child-led, giving children the freedom to be themselves - whether that means exploring, playing, or staying close to you.
Hello! I’m Alison, a Somerset family photographer.
I specialise in natural family photography that captures the closeness, the moments, the expressions that quietly become memories.
I photograph families in their homes and outdoors, focusing on real moments rather than perfect poses.
Those early days pass more quickly than you expect, made up of small, ordinary moments that are easy to forget once life moves on.
What you’ll come away with is a set of natural, honest photographs that help you remember how those early days felt — the closeness, the tiny details, and the moments you didn’t realise you’d miss until later.
I am based in Portishead and regularly work with families across Somerset.
HOW MY FAMILY PHOTOGRAPHY SESSIONS WORK
I photograph families across Somerset, working both in their homes and in outdoor spaces.
Some families prefer the comfort and familiarity of being at home, while others enjoy heading outside to a local park or green space, both work beautifully and help keep sessions relaxed.
These family photography sessions are suitable for families with babies, toddlers and young children, and are planned around real life - energy levels, naps and the natural rhythm of family life rather than a fixed formula.
My Somerset family sessions last around an hour and are more like a relaxed family walk rather than a formal photoshoot.
A couple of weeks after your session, you will receive a private online gallery with a collection of beautiful edited images to view, share and choose from.

Somerset is full of beautiful spots for relaxed, natural family photography, from open countryside and rolling hills to charming villages and woodland walks. Some favourite places include Chew Valley Lake, the Mendip Hills, Clevedon seafront, Berrow Beach, and the Black Nore Lighthouse coastline in Portishead. Or we can simply meet somewhere familiar - your home, garden, or a local park your family loves best.

As a mum myself, I understand how quickly these stages pass — and how important it is to capture them without adding pressure or expectation.
