Newborn photoshoot, Bath

Capturing those early days with a newborn is such a special experience, it all goes by so fast!

This little one was just a few weeks old, still getting used to the world, with expressions that shifted between peaceful calm and little bursts of fussiness. But no matter what, there was one place where she felt completely at ease – snuggled up in her mum’s arms!

One of the things I love most about newborn photography is capturing the raw, unscripted moments that unfold naturally. Babies, especially newborns, don’t pose or follow directions!

During this session, there were a few tearful moments, as is often the case with newborns. Babies cry to communicate, whether they need comfort, food, or just a reassuring touch. Watching the way this little one melted into her mother’s arms was beautiful. It was as if the world around her disappeared, and all that mattered was being held close by the person she trusted most.

Newborn sessions at home allow for a more relaxed and stress-free experience, no rushing out the door, no unfamiliar surroundings. They could just embrace the little moments that make up life with a newborn.

The house was filled with natural light, which gave the photos a gorgeous, soft glow. Light plays such a crucial role in photography, and in this case, the warm sunlight streaming through the windows created the perfect atmosphere.

The individual sleepy shots proved to be a little tricky. She seemed determined to stay awake and wasn’t interested in leaving her mum, but wiht a quick whizz around outside in her buggy, she was fast asleep!

The newborn stage flies by in the blink of an eye. One moment, they’re tiny and sleepy, and before you know it, they’re growing, changing, and becoming more alert to the world around them. That’s why newborn photos are important, they let families hold onto these little details even as time moves forward.

For this baby and her parents, these photos will be something they can look back on forever. One day, when she’s all grown up, they’ll be able to flip through these images and remember just how tiny she once was!
