Family life moves fast. Whether your children are tiny, growing fast, or nearly grown, it’s easy to get caught up in the everyday chaos and forget to pause. My sessions are about doing exactly that - slowing down, laughing together, and capturing your family just as you are right now.

Hi, I’m Alison - a family photographer based near Bristol with over a decade of experience photographing families across Somerset and the South West.

Somerset has so many beautiful places for relaxed, natural family photography, from open countryside and rolling hills to pretty villages and woodlands. Some favourite spots include Chew Valley Lake, The Mendip Hills, Clevedon seafront, Berrow Beach, Black Nore Lighthouse coastline in Portishead. If you’d prefer somewhere quieter, there are plenty of hidden gems - peaceful fields and country lanes around Blagdon, Wrington, or Wedmore, and plenty of woodland walks that are perfect for family photos with a natural, outdoor feel. Or, we can simply meet somewhere familiar - your home, garden, or a local park that your family loves. The setting matters less than the laughter, connection, and moments you share together.

What if it rains? We’ll reschedule for another day at no extra cost.

What if my children don't cooperate? That’s totally fine! Most of the best moments come from letting kids just be themselves.

What if my partner hates being photographed? You’re not alone! I gently guide you all so it never feels awkward or staged, and most people end up surprised by how relaxed it feels.

What should we wear? Simple, comfortable clothes that reflect your family’s style. I’ll send you a short guide before the session to help.

HOW IT WORKS

My family sessions are relaxed, child-led, and full of genuine moments. We’ll choose a location in Somerset or shoot at your home, and spend around an hour together capturing a mix of natural interactions and a few gentle, timeless portraits. I’ll guide you just enough to help things flow, but never so much that it feels forced. My aim is for it to feel like a relaxed family walk! A couple of weeks later, you’ll receive a private online gallery of around 40 images to view, share, and choose from. Find out exactly how it works.
