BRISTOL WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER

I'M ALISON, A BRISTOL WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER

Most couples tell me the same thing when they get in touch: they want to enjoy their wedding day without spending half of it posing for photos. I completely understand that. Your day should feel like yours, not like a photoshoot with a wedding happening around it.

I photograph the real moments - the laughter during the speeches, the look on your partner's face when they first see you, the people you love enjoying themselves. The big, obvious moments and the smaller ones in between that you might not even notice at the time but will be so glad to have afterwards.

I will pinch you for a few portraits at some point during the day, but it's relaxed, it's quick, and most couples say it was actually a welcome breather. You won't be away from your guests for long.

What you end up with is an honest record of your wedding day - how it looked, how it felt, and all the moments that made it yours.

“Alison photographed our wedding and we are both speechless at the beautiful photos she’s given us, they are absolutely everything we wanted and more. I cannot thank her enough for everything she has done, it was so much fun being photographed by her and it just means the world to us both! We cannot wait to share with our family and friends, just in absolute awe! Thank you so much!”

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

GETING MARRIED IN BRISTOL

Bristol is such a brilliant city to get married in. It has personality - the coloured houses, the harbourside, the bridge, the independent restaurants and bars. There's a character to it that comes through in wedding photos without you having to try.

I've photographed weddings at venues all across Bristol, and what I love is the variety. Bristol Registry Office has a lovely, relaxed feel - couples often head out into the streets around St Nicholas Market afterwards, and the character of that area adds something really nice to the photos. Those first few minutes after the ceremony with everyone hugging and laughing outside are always full of beautiful moments. Kings Weston House is lovely - grand Vanbrugh architecture with sweeping views, but it never feels stuffy. Ashton Court has the estate grounds, the deer park, and the old mansion, which gives you so many options for portraits without needing to go far.

Just outside the city, venues like Old Down Estate and Berwick Lodge offer countryside settings while still being a short drive from Bristol. Old Down has beautiful gardens and woodland that look stunning in any season. Berwick Lodge has an intimacy to it that suits smaller weddings really well.

In Clifton, the views near the Observatory and the Suspension Bridge are hard to beat for portraits. There's something about that combination of the bridge, the gorge, and the sky that gives you an image you couldn't get anywhere else. And the streets of Clifton itself - the Georgian terraces, the independent shops - have a charm that works beautifully as a backdrop if you fancy a short walk between the ceremony and reception.

One of the things I particularly enjoy about Bristol weddings is that couples here tend to do things their own way. Pub receptions, restaurant celebrations, warehouse venues, garden parties. There's less of a template and more of a "let's do what feels like us" attitude, which I love. Those weddings always photograph well because they're full of personality.

Wherever you're celebrating in Bristol, I photograph the day quietly and naturally, capturing the emotion, the atmosphere, and the small moments that make the day yours.
