I'm Alison, and Portishead is home. I moved here a few years ago with my own family, and it's become a place we love - the marina, the lake grounds, the coastal path that winds round towards Clevedon with the Welsh hills across the water.
There's something lovely about photographing families in a place I know well. I know where the light is good in the evening, which beaches work when the tide's out, and the spots that feel calm and away from it all, from Portishead round to Clevedon. And because it's my home too, there's no rushing off from somewhere far away.
I photograph families, babies and newborns in a natural, relaxed way - at home, or out in the fresh air along the North Somerset coast. Whether you're expecting a baby, marking your little one's first year, or you'd just like some honest photographs of your family as you are right now, that's what I'm here for.

Family photoshoots with me are really just time spent together, with me quietly capturing it. We might wander along the marina, potter about on the beach, or let the children lead the way while you laugh and get on with being a family. There's no heavy posing, no "cheese-ing," and absolutely no pressure for anyone to behave perfectly - the real moments are the ones worth having.
Little ones are free to explore, and I follow their lead rather than trying to direct them. It tends to feel more like a relaxed hour out together than a formal photoshoot, which is exactly the point.
Newborn & baby photography in Portishead & Clevedon
Newborn photoshoots happen in the comfort of your own home, so there's no bundling a tiny baby into the car or packing an enormous bag of things you might need. Everything is baby-led and completely unhurried - we work around feeds, cuddles and settling, with no rush and no set plan. If your baby wants to feed for twenty minutes halfway through, that's absolutely fine.
I work with the soft light coming through your windows and gently guide you into simple, natural positions, while leaving plenty of space for the real moments - the tiny fingers, the sleepy yawns, the way you look at each other. Most families come away with a mix of quiet portraits of the baby and warm, natural photos of you all together.
You'll usually have your private gallery of 40+ edited images within a couple of weeks.

Portishead Marina & East Cliff Beach (golden hour)
The marina is beautiful in the early evening when the light softens and reflects off the water. It’s perfect for relaxed family walks, little ones exploring, and natural moments as the sun begins to set.
Sugar Loaf Beach
Sugar Loaf Beach has a wonderfully natural, slightly windswept feel. Pebbles, open skies, and the changing tide make it ideal for playful, barefoot sessions. It’s especially lovely for families who don’t mind a bit of sea air and want something relaxed and coastal.
Battery Point
Battery Point offers wide-open views across the estuary and beautiful evening light. It’s a quieter spot with a natural backdrop, perfect if you’d like something simple and scenic without too many distractions. The space allows for calm sessions with room for little ones to explore safely.
Clevedon Pier & Beach
Clevedon Pier brings a timeless, slightly nostalgic feel to photos. The structure itself adds interest without overpowering the images, and the surrounding seafront offers beautiful soft light, especially later in the day. It works well for both family sessions and gentle baby portraits with a coastal backdrop.
Coastal Path Views
The coastal path between Portishead and Clevedon offers open skies and sweeping views that feel calm and expansive. It’s perfect for families who enjoy walking together and want their session to feel more like time spent outdoors than a formal photoshoot. The scenery changes with the seasons, making each session unique.

All over - the Lake Grounds, the marina, Battery Point, the coastal path towards Clevedon, and at people's homes and gardens. Being local, I know these spots well and can suggest whatever suits your family best.

No - Portishead is home, but I photograph families across Bristol, Bath, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire. Travel within a 30-mile radius of Portishead is included.

Absolutely, and it's often the nicest option with babies and very young children. I use the natural light in your home and work around your family. If the weather's kind, we can always head out to the seafront afterwards too.

Family photoshoots are around an hour. Newborn photoshoots take a little longer - usually one to two hours - so there's plenty of time for feeds and cuddles with no rush.

If it's properly miserable, we'll simply rearrange for another day at no extra cost. An overcast day is absolutely fine though - soft, even light is lovely for photos. And an at-home photoshoot is always an option.

You'll receive a private online gallery of at least 40 edited images within a couple of weeks, to view, share and choose from.
