Family photoshoot at Ashton Court in bristol
Ashton Court in Bristol is one of those places I keep coming back to for family photoshoots. Open fields, wooded corners, winding trails, and just the right amount of space for children to explore. It’s one of the city’s real gems.
For little ones especially, Ashton Court is ideal. The wide open lawns give toddlers the freedom to run, climb, and play, while the quieter woodland paths offer plenty of opportunities for exploring. That freedom means families can relax and enjoy themselves, and the photos naturally capture the energy, curiosity, and joy of childhood.
The light here is always kind too. Whether the sky is bright or gently overcast, the openness of the estate lets in beautiful, soft natural light that brings warmth to every photo.
And of course, it’s more than just a backdrop. Families often turn their photoshoot into a little day out, wandering the park afterwards, picnicking on the grass, or grabbing a hot chocolate from the café.
On this particular shoot, I photographed a toddler who was absolutely full of curiosity. For an hour he led the way, climbing steps, inspecting gates, stopping to admire daffodils in the fields, and charging down paths with that wonderful determination only toddlers have.
If you’d love some natural family photos of your own, I’d love to hear from you.
