A family photoshoot in Bath for a little 10 month old boy
I recently photographed a lovely family in their beautiful Bath townhouse with their 10-month-old son. At this age, babies are full of curiosity and personality, and it’s such a wonderful stage to capture.
We began the session indoors, where it was warm and comfortable for everyone. Their little boy was very happy trying out his new standing skills, looking out of the tall windows, and pausing to investigate anything that caught his interest.
His mum and dad brought out a favourite book, chatted to him, and played with him in the natural way they do every day. Those simple moments – reading together, laughing, cuddling – often create the most genuine photographs.
Bath townhouses often have lovely tall windows that fill the rooms with soft natural light, which worked a treat in these photos.
After a while we decided to step outside for a few photos. It was one of those bright winter days where the sun is out but the air is still quite cold. Even so, the fresh air and a little change of scene were lovely.
Sessions at home like this are often some of my favourites. They capture a family exactly as they are in that moment of life – the place they live, the routines they share, and the small everyday moments that mean the most.
And with babies growing and changing so quickly in that first year, those moments are incredibly special to look back on.
