Family photoshoot with a 9 month old in Bristol
This family photoshoot was in Bristol with a lovely 9-month-old. We’d originally planned to do most of the shoot outdoors, but the November weather had turned cold and so we decided to keep things flexible and move the majority of the session indoors.
At this age, babies are happiest when they’re warm, familiar with their surroundings, and free to move about. We spent time in a few rooms, using natural window light and keeping things relaxed and playful. Just simple moments together capturing expressions that change almost daily at this stage.
We wrapped up and headed out for a short walk to some nearby parkland close to their home. These final outdoor shots added a different feel to the gallery - a nice mix of cosy, intimate images alongside a handful of fresh, open ones. Even a brief time outside can be enough to create variety without anyone getting too cold or unsettled.
This photoshoot was a great reminder of how well home family shoots work, especially with babies. There’s no need to rush, no unfamiliar environment to adjust to, and everything you need is already there. When families feel comfortable, it really shows in the photos.
If you’re thinking about a family photo session and aren’t sure whether to go outdoors, especially in the colder months, a combination of both can work beautifully.
