Family photoshoot at Oldbury Court, Bristol
I spent a sunny morning this summer at Oldbury Court in Bristol, photographing a big extended family.
Oldbury Court is one of those places that just works beautifully for shoots like this. There’s space for the kids to run, plenty of variety without trekking miles, and the kind of backdrops that make photos feel both natural and a bit special - wide open parkland, shaded woodland, and winding paths along the river.
This session was for a brother and sister and their families. Which meant cousins, in-laws, and all the different family combinations that happen when everyone comes together. .
We started under the trees before wandering over to the meadows. The long, dry grass was perfect. They disappeared into it, popped their heads up laughing, ran their hands through the stalks, and generally turned it into a game. For me, that’s the sweet spot: the kids having fun, the grown-ups relaxed, and the photos reflecting it all. The soft colours and textures of the grass made a dreamy backdrop too.
Sessions like this always remind me how rare and precious it is to get extended family together. Capturing everyone in one place feels like bottling a moment you’ll be so glad to look back on later.
