NEWBORN & FAMILY PHOTOSHOOT NEAR BATH
This lovely family near Bath had just welcomed their baby boy, and big brother (three years old and full of energy) was quietly working out what this new chapter meant for him.
We kept the session completely relaxed and at their pace, using the soft natural window light that filled their living room. No studio lights, no complicated set-ups, just the family together at home.
Natural light & familiar spaces
The beauty of photographing families at home is that nothing feels staged. The sofa where stories are read. The spot by the window where morning light falls gently across the room. The everyday spaces that will hold so many memories as the boys grow. The natural light coming in through the windows created the softest glow and perfect for newborn skin tones
Big brother moments
With a three year old involved, sessions are always a little unpredictable and that’s exactly how they should be.
There were moments of curiosity and pride, little glances at his new brother, and bursts of energy in between. We didn’t force anything. Instead, we let him come and go, cuddle when he wanted to, and stay close when he felt like it.
Those small, in-between interactions are often the most meaningful, a gentle hand on the baby’s head, leaning in to see what he was doing, or climbing up beside mum on the sofa.
Keeping it calm
Newborn sessions at home don’t need to be complicated. We paused for feeds, for nappy changes, for moments when someone just needed a breather. The pace stayed slow and gentle throughout.
The result is a set of images that feel honest and true to this stage of life - a family adjusting, growing, and settling into life as four.
