Family photoshoot with grandparents, Gloucester

Three generations, one sunny afternoon, and a little pocket of green tucked away in Gloucester, that was this session at Barnwood Arboretum.

If you haven’t been before, Barnwood Arboretum is one of those hidden gems you’d almost miss if you didn’t know it was there. Winding paths, big old trees, a meadow that feels made for running through, and plenty of quiet corners. It’s the kind of place that makes family photos feel easy and unposed. Peaceful, pretty, and a bit of a surprise when you first stumble across it.

This shoot was extra special because it brought together parents, grandparents, and their granddaughter. I love these sessions. There’s something about the mix of ages and relationships that makes the photos feel so rich. Their granddaughter was an absolute star of the day too. Full of confidence, sweetness, and perfectly happy to be the centre of attention (as she should be!).

Sessions like this always remind me that photos aren’t just about the here and now. They become part of your family story. The kids grow, grandparents get older, and one day it’ll mean so much to look back at these little slices of time together.

If you’re in the Gloucester area and thinking about booking a family photoshoot, whether it’s just you and the kids or a full three-generation gathering, I’d love to help capture those moments.
